Family Stone

Overwhelmed by the hostile reception, she begs her sister to join her for emotional support, triggering further complications.
The Family Stone was released in North America on November 26, 2005 and was a moderate critical and commercial success, with a worldwide gross of over US$92.2 million. 2. Main characters:

  • Diane Keaton as Sybil Stone, the family's strong-willed, bohemian matriarch. A breast cancer survivor, she deals with the recurrence of the fatal illness. Playing the glue that holds the family together, Keaton was the first actor approached to star in the film. Cast amid the final season of her HBO series Sex and the City, Parker, who had struggled to find a role that distinguished her from her television character, declared Meredith a breakaway from her previous roles: "She is ... controlling, rigid and tightly wound. When she tries to dig herself out of awkward moments, she only makes matters worse."
  • Claire Danes as Julie Morton, Meredith's younger sister, who works at a foundation awarding grants to artists. She arrives with the Stones to provide moral support when her sister's life is in a state of chaos. Titanic

1. Summary
In 1912, the Titanic, the world's most luxurious passenger ship, set out across the
Atlantic for New York City. It would never see it's destination.
1500 people were on the ship, some first class, others restrained to the lower decks
where windows were limited. Either way, the passengers on board the Titanic held
high hopes, not because it was deemed "the unsinkable ship" but because they were
leaving their past behind them and preparing for a new life in America. To Jack, a
homeless artist, winning two tickets on the luxery liner was the best thing that ever
happened to him. His life, as well as everyone else on the ship, would be changed
forever. Even before he discovered the fate of the Titanic did he know what his destiny
was; he met Rose. Rose was a troubled young woman living in a rich society, engaged
to a millionaire that her mother had sought out. She was living in a fantasy, a fantasy
that she didn't want, and she was looking for a way out. Jack heroically saved Rose's
life and was immediately thrust into her world though no one knew he fit in. He was
the only one that could see the anguish that Rose was in... He was the only one who
could get her out of it. Their love affair would be cut short. Nighttime was a dangerous
time for ships in that time period, manually having to look for obstructions in the
ocean. Titanic's crew saw the iceberg too late and they struck it, the side of their hull
ripping to shreds. The unsinkable ship was going to sink and more than half of the
people on board were going to die.

2. Main Characters
Leonardo di Caprio as Jack Dawson: Jack is portrayed as a homeless, poor man from
Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin who has toured numerous places in the world, primarily Paris.
He wins two tickets onto the RMS Titanic in a poker game and travels as a third-class
passenger with his friend Fabrizio. He is attracted to Rose at first sight and meets her
when she attempts to throw herself off the stern of the ship. This enables him to mix with
the first-class passengers for a night.
Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater: Rose is a 17-year-old girl, originally from
Philadelphia, who is forced into an engagement to 30-year-old Cal Hockley so she and her
mother, Ruth, can maintain their high-class status after her father's death had left the
family debt-ridden. Rose boards the RMSTitanic with Cal and Ruth, as a first-class
passenger, and meets Jack. Winslet said of her character, "She has got a lot to give, and
she's got a very open heart. And she wants to explore and adventure the world, but she
[feels] that's not going to happen.
Billy Zane as Caledon Nathan "Cal" Hockley: Cal is Rose's 30-year-old fiancé. He is
arrogant and snobbish, and the heir to a Pittsburgh steel fortune. He becomes increasingly
embarrassed, jealous, and cruel about Rose's relationship with Jack.
Frances Fisher as Ruth DeWitt Bukater: Rose's widowed mother, who arranges her
daughter's engagement to Cal to maintain her family's high-society status. She loves her
daughter, but believes that social position is more important than having a loving marriage.
She scorns Jack, even though he saved her daughter's life.

3. Personal Opinion
After watching the famous movie Titanic, for the fifth time, I can say that this movie never
gets me tired. I can watch it one time and other time and other and I never get tired of it.
That's because I love how Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet gave life to those
wonderful characters, the way they played the characters it's simply amazing. But, on the
other hand, this movie is also so tragic. One thing I don't like about the film is the way it
ends. Why is so tragic? I mean Jack and Rose could have taken turns on the wood made
thing. I don't know, If I were the movie director I would change the end.
